Picking the Right Band

How to give your engagement ring the perfect silhouette

In the world of jewelry, we measure things by tenths of millimeters, which means little things can have a big impact. This is especially true in one of the most subtle, yet most important, choices you’ll make when customizing your Waant ring: the band.

Technically known as the “shank”, the band is the foundation for your entire ring and can set the mood for the entire design. Think of your center stone as a sculpture and the band as its pedestal; both need to work together to create the most beautiful impression possible.

Square

The square band is the simplest design possible: just a square silhouette wrapped around the finger. The result is a solid, substantial band that always looks understated. The straight top edge and brightly polished surface makes this the thickest looking band Waant makes. If you want your ring to feel clean and uncomplicated, this is the band for you.

Half Round

Polished to a mirror finish, the half round strikes a balance between the square’s simplicity and the knife edge’s modernity. It also echoes the rounded sides of most gems, making it a natural pairing to everything from a classic round white diamond to a moody oval Montana sapphire. If you want your ring to never go out of style, the half round is ideal.

Knife Edge

Two angles meet in the middle of the knife edge band, giving your ring a sharp and sleek look. With its opposing halves, the knife edge creates a line down the center making it look especially delicate. The opposing edges also catch light at different angles, creating shifting flashes of light off its polished form. If you want your ring to give off a modern and cool, try a knife edge.
